Projects in 2006

With a couple of rehearsals under our belts since the holidays, we're starting to get in gear again. New material includes:
FESTIVAL Pieces:
Celebrations
Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
Colonel Bogey OR Old Comrades March
PERFORMANCE Pieces:
Eine Kleine Yiddische Ragmusik
March to the Principal's Office
Overture: Saturday Market
Sailing Songs
Flying The Breeze
Spectre of Fortune
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
Jupiter, from The Planets
Pictures at an Exhibition
and of course, O Canada.

Our Personnel has changed some. It's great to see Yvette again, on Clarinet. Wayne (Baritone Horn) is back, feisty as ever. Tonight we met two new members, Courtney Preyser on Trumpet and Barbara Tetz on Percussion. Welcome!

We're short a Director, and need a co-ordinator for Spring Fling. Hopefully someone will jump in soon!

The Big Band is starting to work hard on the Spring Fling, only 7 weeks away (early this year!). Small ensembles are also working away, including the Schnickelfritz Orchestra and Glenn Grieve's combo. Big Band is missing Bob Butchart's direction and Scott Northridge's tenor sax, but Geoff Parr, now playing Alto Sax, is conducting the band. New members include Dylan and Kegan Spence on tenor sax and trombone, and Ryan Titcomb on drums.
We're also submitting an entry to the Music Festival for the first time in years.

So... we've got a lot on our plate. Let's make this a busy, hard-working and fun-loving gang! It's infectious!
